# internal_error

> Public API error internal_error — an unexpected error occurred while processing the request (HTTP 500).

## What it means

An unexpected error occurred while processing the request. Use the `request_id`
when contacting Living Security Support.

## What to do

* Retry safe (read) requests with bounded exponential backoff.
* A failed response does not prove a write failed. Retry a mutation automatically only when the operation explicitly documents safe retries. For an idempotent retry, preserve the original key, request body, resource path and API version. Sending a header to an operation that does not support idempotency provides no retry protection.
* If the error persists, contact [Living Security Support](mailto:support@livingsecurity.com) with the `request_id`, UTC timestamp, method, and path.
