# credential_inactive

> Public API error credential_inactive — the API credential exists but is not active (HTTP 401).

| **Code** | `credential_inactive` |
| **HTTP status** | `401 Unauthorized` |
| **Retryable** | No |

## What it means

The credential was recognized but is not currently active, so it cannot authenticate requests. A credential can be inactive because it was disabled or has not been activated.

## What to do

* Check the credential's status in the Developer Hub.
* Re-enable the credential, or create a new one and deploy its secret to your integration.
* Do not retry with the same credential until its status changes — the result will not differ.
